On June 3rd at 3PM Eastern, our celebration will officially kick off with a keynote presentation featuring former NASA Astronaut Mike Massimino, now an engineering professor at Columbia University. Space is limited (no pun intended) so be sure to register. Click here to register for this free event - and bring a friend! Please share with everyone you know in the non-bargaining unit - all are welcome.
PMA's 40th birthday is less than three months away! As we move through the month, you'll start to see some changes to our website and newsletters. We will invite you to visit our new site and create an account to access new content, new benefits, and a new legislative action center which will empower you to join PMA in our advocacy. To prepare for our email server changeover, please add our @promanager.org email domain to your Outlook Safe Senders list so that our messages don't end up in your junk/spam folder. Please find instructions attached to help you add PMA to your list.
Many were surprised this week by the CDC's announcement to remove many restrictions for vaccinated people. There is also a great deal of concern for everyone's safety because we have no way of knowing who was vaccinated so our communities are left to develop their own interpretations on enforcing mandates such as the common one for masks.
At work, we are still bound by Executive Orders and OPM guidance to remain masked. No changes have been made at this time that impact the Federal workplace. Please be careful and be sure your team is continuing to follow established guidance. You can find the latest information form the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force - it was recently updated with new FAQs on leave policies.
PMA is working for you in Washington on this issue. We met with HCO this week to express our concerns and to share information from our members across the country about compliance with existing policies. We are meeting with OPM next week to learn more about the CDC guidance and how it may impact OPM's interpretation of the existing EOs. More to come.
It's officially the start of the FY22 appropriations season. PMA is working with partners on the Hill to press for paid leave protections, a Civil Service pay raise, and to secure funding for the IRS's ongoing and much needed modernization and enforcement efforts. We are waiting for the Administration to release their budget proposal and we expect to see a 3.2% raise for Federal workers. Nothing is formalized yet and we will continue to update you as the Congress gets to work.
The Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) launched an animated video series to help Federal workers understand FLRA regulations, union protections, and violations. We encourage you to watch the videos here - they will help you to better understand the agency's relationship with its union and how we managers can be good stewards of employee rights.
Be sure to file your taxes! The TY20 deadline is Monday, May 17th for most Americans.
Be sure to vote each day to make these IRS employees Sammie Award winners. Busby, Garibotto, Privett and the Economic Impact Payment team were selected as finalists for a Service to America award. Vote here
The Executive Readiness (XR) program announcement will be up from May 31-June 14 this year. To prepare for that process, click here to learn more about the program and the ECQs candidates need to prepare.
This summer, PMA will celebrate our 40th anniversary as the only association advocating exclusively on behalf of IRS managers, management officials, other non-bargaining workers, leadership development program participants, and retirees from those roles. Through our long relationship with the IRS, we’ve worked to identify problems and recommend solutions around many complex workforce issues such as performance pay, leave, professional liability, and safety, to name only a few. We are working diligently to strengthen the IRS and enhance management through our relationships in Congress - at times even sharing our members' individual stories to fortify congressional understanding of our working conditions. We do all of this and more for only $3.50 per pay period – an incredible value.

PMA’s National Board is looking for members throughout the country who are willing to consider serving as chapter president. If you're in Colorado or Georgia, please reach out today! We’re also always happy to hear from members who’d like to found a local chapter in their area. Local chapters are active around the country and work with local executives, FEBs, and GLCs to promote the interests of management. Chapter presidents also attend national calls quarterly with the National Board as members of our Association Leadership Committee. The Committee will participate in PMA's modernization project, which is already underway. The time commitment is minimal and it’s a great way to improve conditions in your office. If you or someone you know is interested, please reply to our newsletter and we will connect you with resources to get started.
Be well and be safe!
